Antes de empezar, conviene repasar cómo formar el primer condicional. Es fácil.

Básicamente, la estructura es ésta:

If + present, will + infinitive

If I have time, I’ll call you.

If she has enough money next year, she’ll buy a motorbike.

If I go to Paris, I’ll visit my friend John.

If the weather is good, we’ll go to the beach.

El primer condicional también se puede hacer al revés, con la parte de will al principio:

I’ll visit him if I go to Paris.

I’ll call you if I have time.

She’ll buy a motorbike if she has enough money.

We’ll go to the beach if the weather is good.

Importante: sólo usamos will una vez por frase. En la parte con “if” se entiende que es hipotético y futuro, no hace falta repetir el auxiliar “will”.

Negaciones y preguntas en primer condicional

Las negaciones se hacen con will not o bien la forma corta won’t.

If he calls me, I won’t answer.

If I fail the test, I won’t finish university.

If you eat something now, you won’t be hungry later.

También pueden formarse con una negación de la parte con “if”, o con una negación de los dos lados. Depende de lo que quieres decir.

If you don’t eat something now, you’ll be hungry later.

If he doesn’t call, I’ll be very angry!

If you don’t pass the test, you won’t finish university.

If it doesn’t rain, we’ll go for a walk.
