Every year in my school there is an important event for
celebrating the democracy. It is the School Government
election whose preparation starts with the selection of
representatives and candidates for the different charges. First,
we vote inside each course to elect our representatives to the
student council, evaluation commission and coexistence
committee. After, we participate in the institutional elections in
which we vote for the student spokesperson (personero) and
controller.
Our parents also make their elections in a meeting with the grade advisor. They vote for their
representatives to the parent council, evaluation commission and coexistence committee. On
the other hand, our teachers elect their representatives for the directive council.
This year 2021 I want to be the student spokesperson (personero) since I am an eleventh
grade student. Besides this important requirement, I must also have at least one-year
studying in the institution, be an excellent student at an academic, behavioral and disciplinary
level, fill in a register form and present a government plan. I mustn’t promise activities that I
can’t fulfill and ignore the coexistence manual o other any rule. I should be a selfimprovement model and a leader.
As you can see, being part of the school government is an honor but a big responsibility too.
It can only work when all their representatives are committed to act correctly. That will be my
main goal!
