Los mayas fueron una cultura avanzada  que existió antes de la llegada de los españoles, se calcula que esta cultura inicio de 1000 años A.C hasta   320 D.C.
1.- Su arquitectura.- Los mayas tuvieron la capacidad de construir ciudades, como constructores, fueron excelentes arquitectos, pues sus construcciones actualmente se encuentran en pie y revelaron grandes aspectos de su cultura.
2.- Su vestimenta.- Fue muy importante y se distinguió por adornos, perforaciones nasales, vestidos bordados para las mujeres y capas bordadas para los hombres pero no se conoció algún tipo de jerarquías en relación a la vestimenta.
3.- Su alimentación.- Fue principalmente vegetariana, y la carne que consumían era obtenida mediante la cacería pues la domesticación fue muy limitada.
4.- El lenguaje de los mayas.- Tuvieron más de 30 dialectos, los cuales al parecer tuvieron un origen común; estos lenguajes derivó el maya actual, que es utilizado a la par por su hablantes.
5.-  La astronomía.- La astronomía de los mayas fue muy avanzada para su época, y  les permitió predecir fenómenos astronómicos.
6.- La sociedad maya.- Se enfocaba principalmente a los linajes; para los mayas era muy importante conocer su linaje, pues en su cultura esto influía ampliamente en la proporción de las tierras y tal vez en la posición social y gubernamental.
7.- El gobierno maya.- El gobierno fue básicamente teocrático y el poder recaía en una sola persona, quien gozaba de poder absoluto.
