Roman theaters were spaces for dramaturgy, opera and comedy, emulated by the ancient Greeks. Designed for perfect acoustics, they were the setting for countless plays.
The coliseums were the fighting arenas, where battles to the death were fought between beasts and gladiators, or between Christians and wild beasts or between gladiators. The Colosseum in Rome has a capacity for 50,000 people seated.
