John L. Hennessy
John LeRoy Hennessy, founder of MIPS Technologies; He is currently the tenth president of Stanford University. He earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University, and his Ph.D. and Ph.D. in computer science at New York State University in Stony Brook.
Hennessy became a member of Stanford University in 1977; And in 1984 during a sabbatical year, he founded MIPS Computer Systems Inc to market the RISC processors he had been investigating.
