Berkhamsted is a historic market town 20 miles north of London. It has a population of 19,000 and it is in the middle of beautiful English countryside. People can visit the Castle that is more than 1000 years old and it is free. The Ashridge Estate is a huge park with big trees, amazing views and quiet walks. There is a shop and a café in the park.
People can travel to this town by trains. There are four trains that leave from London, and the journey is 30-40 minutes.
If you want to stay for a few days in Berkhamsted, the town has got a lot of hotels. One of the most expensive hotels is The King’s Arms Hotel. It is in the High Street. In this street (High Street) tourists can find several souvenir shops; there are bookshops, clothes shops and bakeries too. The town has got two big supermarkets but they are never open on Sundays. If you want to watch a movie while you are in this place, there are two cinemas in West Street with a lot of movies to choose.
