In the 70s, Argentina started suffering a big economic crisis. As a consequence, while the government could not control the situation, many people began continuosly protesting in the streets for better salaries and better conditions of life. There were many strikes with the intention to change the situation in the country. Seeing such a chaos, the FFAA in charge of Rafael Videla wanted to act in a violent way. On March 24, 1976, they overthrew Isabel Martinez from the presidency and a military regime entered in Argentina. The leaders of this new government killed Videla, Massera and Agosti. In this horrible period, the FFAA decided to establish social order: they were all subversive people. The military forces blinded the subversive's houses, and took them to several clandestine detention centres. The most famous was "La Esma". The military forces raped and tortured many people, including young students and pregnant women. According to the CONADEP report an estimated 30000 people were kidnapped or disappeared by military forces between 1975 and 1978.
