At the Department Store.

Mrs. Martin was at a big department store. She wanted to buy some clothes for her children.
She asked a clerk, “Where are the boys’ clothes, please?”
The clerk said, “On the second floor, ma’am.”
“Thank you,” said Mrs. Martin.
She went to the second floor. She looked a lot of clothes. Then she went to sweater
department. She wanted a brown sweater for her son Fred. There were a lot of sweaters on a
table. But she didn’t like them. She didn’t buy a sweater.
Fred needed some shirts, too. Mrs. Martin went to the shirt department.
“I want to see some boys’ shirts, please” she said to the clerk.
“What size?” asked the clerk.
“Size twelve,” Mrs. Martin said. The clerk showed Mrs. Martin some shirts.
She bought three white shirts and a tie. Fred didn’t like to wear ties, but he
had to wear them sometimes.
Then Mrs. Martin went to the third floor. Girls’ clothes were on the third floor.
She looked a lot of dresses. Jane wanted a new dress for a party. Mrs.
Martin found a pretty blue dress, but Jane liked green. There wasn’t a green
dress in Jane’s size.
“What time is it?” Mrs. Martin asked a clerk.
“It’s 4:30” said the clerk.
“It’s late. I have to go home now,” said Mrs. Martin. She went down to the first floor. There was
a restaurant there. She stopped and had a cup of coffee. Then she hurried to the bus station,
took the bus and went back home.
