An old saying goes 'an elephant never forgets.' It is important for wild elephants not to forget some things. The plains of Africa are very dry sometimes. There is little rain. Many of the watering holes dry up. Plants may die because there is no water. It's hard to find food. But the oldest elephants always know where to go. They can find watering holes they haven't visited in twenty years! They help keep the whole herd alive.
