Become "superhuman"
There are moments when the College makes you superhuman. We had been preparing for RUM's Street Painting Day for at least four weeks. But since it was time for final exams, nothing compares with the work that one exercises the last days before the end of the semester, or in our case on November 17, the date for which the activity was scheduled.
Between turning my car into a warehouse for street painting materials and the apartment I shared with Sionel, into a pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure design workshop, one finds oneself sleeping for a few hours due to the motivation of wanting to make a change in the world. I will never forget the day before the activity: I did not sleep to make sure everything was as organized as possible. There was tremendous jangueo in the street (I lived in the town) - the next day, it was a Thursday holiday -, and that my brothers at heart, Andrés and Rita, took the jangueo for coming to help me finish cutting the squad of the Colegial Crossing which is at the Barcelona Entrance.
They are those moments that one will remember forever. I had the opportunity to have many tremendous experiences thanks to the School, but nothing could be compared to the feeling of solidarity when more than 100 Schoolboys woke up that "Biciflecha Discovery Day", as we affectionately nickname it, to join us in giving a face new painting to the streets of the College that highlight the priority of sharing the road between pedestrians, cyclists, buses and drivers. With 105 college hands at work, we finished in record time (just before the daily Mayagüezana rain began) and gave a new face to the School in its 105 years.
