Thomas Edison was a great inventor. He went to school but didn't enjoy it. He didn't do his school work so the principal of the school told him not to come back. He only went to school for three or four months and he never stopped learning. His mother wanted him to learn so she taught him at home. She gave him science books. He stayed at home and read the books. Edison needed money to buy more books, so he started to work on a train. He sold candy and newspapers. He loved to do experiments. One day he blew up the office where he worked, so he lost his job. Edison always worked long hours and slept for only five or six hours a day. Edison invented over 1.000 items and processes. His most important are sound recording and the light bulb.
