Photosynthesis (from Ancient Greek φωτο- [phōto-], «light», and σύνθεσις [sýnthesis], «composition, synthesis») or chlorophyll function is the conversion of inorganic matter into organic matter thanks to the energy that light brings. In this process the light energy is transformed into stable chemical energy, being the NADPH (nicotine adenine dinucleotide phosphate) and ATP (adenosine triphosphate) the first molecules in which this chemical energy is stored. Subsequently, the reducing power of NADPH and the energy potential of the phosphate group of ATP are used for the synthesis of carbohydrates from the reduction of carbon dioxide. Life on our planet is basically maintained thanks to the photosynthesis carried out in the aquatic environment by algae, cyanobacteria, red bacteria, and purple bacteria and green sulfur bacteria, 1 and in the terrestrial environment, plants that have the ability to synthesize organic matter (essential for the constitution of living beings) based on light and inorganic matter. In fact, each year the photosynthetic organisms fix in the form of organic matter around 100 billion tons of carbon.2 3 The cytoplasmic organelles responsible for the realization of photosynthesis are the chloroplasts, polymorphous and green structures (this coloration is due to the presence of the chlorophyll pigment) characteristic of plant cells. Inside these organelles there is a chamber that contains an internal medium called stroma, which houses various components, among which include enzymes responsible for the transformation of carbon dioxide into organic matter and crushed sacs called thylakoids, whose membrane contains photosynthetic pigments. In average terms, a leaf cell has between fifty and sixty chloroplasts inside
