Every Friday Mary looks forward to the weekend. She usually spends her Saturday
mornings shopping and doing some housework. After she buys the groceries, she
makes the beds, vacuums and dusts all the rooms. She does the laundry too. She
likes to meet with her friends in the afternoon and have some coffee. In the
evening, she likes to go out. Sometimes she goes to the cinema or theater if there
is something interesting on. Occasionally she goes out to dinner with her husband.
She likes to spend Sundays at home. She prepares a Sunday meal for her family.
In the afternoon, she takes it easy and maybe reads a book or just surfs the
Internet.
This Saturday her uncle Bob is visiting them. Her children are usually playing in
their rooms while she cooks lunch, but today Jenny is helping set the table and
Timmy is putting all the toys away. Before lunch Mary’s husband John often spends
time surfing the Net or sending some e-mails. This Sunday they are having a
barbeque so he is grilling meat. Mary is in the kitchen. She is making a salad. She
is also talking to her mother on the phone. Her mother is giving her some advice.
They are exchanging recipes.
The doorbell is ringing. Oh no! Uncle Bob is early!
