1. Inti Raymi is called "The Festival of the Sun". It is an ancestral celebration whose purpose is to pay homage to the Sun god, the supreme symbol of worship in the Inca culture every June 24.

2. Every October 7th the "Day of the Marinera" is celebrated as a tribute to this dance.

5. Peru's Independence Day, also known as the National Holiday, is celebrated on July 28 of each year.

6. The religious festival of the Lord of Miracles, is celebrated in the month of October or 'purple month' and brings together the largest number of faithful in South America.

7. Every June 23, the Peruvian Amazon pays tribute to Saint John the Baptist, who baptized Jesus in the Jordan River and who is the patron saint of the departments of San Martín, Loreto and Ucayali.

8. On pisco sour day, this celebration takes place on the first Saturday in February.
