Long ago, Ruby Bridges was a little girl Ruby had brown

skin. At her school, all the children had brown skin At her

school, there were no children with white skin. The

children with white skin went to different schools

Children with white skin and children with brown skin could

not go to the same school. It was the law. It was not good

and it was not fair. Then, people decided to try to change

that. So Ruby was sent to a new school. At the new

school, all the children had white skin, but not Ruby!

After a while, the laws were changed. Today, children at

schools have brown skin, and tan skin, and white skin

They have all colors of skin! It is very good! Ruby was
