2 Read the report of an event. Then answer the questions below.
careers Day
Yesterday, Westbourne Secondary School held its first Careers Day
for Year 12 students. The all-day event included presentations by
speakers from several universities, colleges, businesses and
government agencies.
The atmosphere was full of excitement as the students spent the day
attending discussions and lectures, as well as talking to local
employers. Surprisingly, many students were most interested in
learning about occupations that do not require a university degree,
such as an estate agent, nursing assistant or chef.
Students ended the day by filling in an online questionnaire. The
conclusion was that the event really made them aware of career
opportunities they had never considered. The organisers were pleased
with the positive response and are planning to make Careers Day an
annual event at the school and in other schools around the city.
