Respuesta:

Before the Neolithic Age, man was entirely a food seeker, living on hunting, fishing and gathering natural fruits.

He was continually on the move, following herds and searching for ripe wild fruits. For his action he needed large tracts of land, and it has been calculated that, even in fertile regions, at least one square kilometer of uncultivated land would be required to provide enough food for a man for a year.

There are still some parts of the world where people live mainly by searching for food. In regions of Central Africa, near the great rivers, for example, there are tribes that subsist on a diet of fish, occasionally supplemented by the meat of animals they hunt; but most of these tribes also clear up the jungle and produce certain crops that are easy to grow.

In Greenland there are Eskimos who live almost entirely on the food they can get from the sea: fish and seal and walrus meat; and some of those who live in northern Canada consume almost nothing but caribou meat.

All these regions, as can be assumed, have a very small population, one or two people, on average, per square kilometer.

However, there are vast areas of land that support 50 or more people on the same tract of land, and some, not small, that support more than 500.
