1.- Identify and underline the compound adjectives in the reading.
A: Hey
B: Hi, what are you doing?
A: I am reading a book.
B: Which book? Oh, that one with the red-haired clown? What is it called?
A: It?
B: Yes, that one with the yellow-raincoat kid
A: That's called, IT. Right now, I am reading Stephen King's book, but not that one. I am reading The Shining.
B: You always read those horror stories. Aren't you scared after reading them?
A: Sometimes. Yes, Stephen King is an amazing writer. It is no surprise that he became so successful.
B: Once, I only read a part of one of his books and I was shocked. I think he may have had a nightmare the night before he wrote it because it was completely horrible. I was terrified and I only read a chapter or so.
A: Maybe. Or he may have found inspiration in his own life.
B: What do you mean?
A: Well, his life was not easy. His father abandoned his family when he was a kid. Steven King's mother had to struggle to raise him and his brother. He must have felt frustrated about not being able to help her. He also had a very traumatic experience. He once saw one of his friends trapped on the rails of a train track and was hit by a train.
B: Oh! That's awful. He must have been shocked. That may have inspired many of his stories.
A: I don't know. He also had a decade of alcoholism. That's when he must have found the inspiration for one of his characters in his book The Shining.
B: Maybe... I haven't read it, so I don't know.
