CONDITIONAL SENTENCES

Oraciones condicionales

En inglés, las oraciones condicionales se conocen como if-clauses o conditional clauses.

Las oraciones condicionales en inglés se dividen en dos partes, y éstas son:

\large{\boxed{{\textsf{If  Clause, Result Clause}}}

Donde:

  • If Clause es la oración de condición.
  • Result Clause es la oración resultado.
  • Si se inicia con la "If Clause", debe colocarse una coma antes de escribir la oración resultado.

Podemos escribir primero la oración resultado y luego la oración de condición, pero ya no se escribiría una coma entre estas:

\large{\boxed{{\textsf{Result Clause + If  Clause}}}

Relacionamos:

1 − e

I wouldn't have overslept if my alarm clock had gone off.

\small{\textsf{\underline{Traducci\'{o}n}: No me habr\'{i}a quedado dormido si mi despertador hubiera sonado.}}

  • "If" Clause: If my alarm clock had gone off
  • Result Clause: I wouldn't have overslept

Notemos que la oración resultado se escribió primero, por ello, no se escribe tilde en medio.

2 − c

If she had gone to bed earlier, she wouldn't have been so tired.

\small{\textsf{\underline{Traducci\'{o}n}: Si ella hubiera ido a la cama temprano, ella no habr\'{i}a estado tan cansada.}}

  • "If" Clause: If she had gone to bed earlier
  • Result Clause: She wouldn't have been so tired

En esta oración, la "If Clause" se escribió al inicio, por lo que debe escribirse la coma antes de iniciar la "Result Clause".

3 − a

I could have lent you the money if you'd asked.

\small{\textsf{\underline{Traducci\'{o}n}: Te podr\'{i}a haber prestado el dinero si me hubieras pedido.}}

  • "If" Clause: If you'd asked
  • Result Clause: I could have lent you the money

4 − g

They wouldn’t have found out if you hadn't told them.

\small{\textsf{\underline{Traducci\'{o}n}: Ellos no se habr\'{i}an enterado si no les hubieras dicho.}}

  • "If" Clause: If you hadn't told them
  • Result Clause: They wouldn’t have found out

5 − d

You could have been a doctor if you had studied medicine.

\small{\textsf{\underline{Traducci\'{o}n}: T\'{u} podr\'{i}as haber sido un doctor si hubieras estudiado medicina.}}

  • "If" Clause: If you had studied medicine
  • Result Clause: They wouldn’t have found out

6 − b

If you'd been more organised, you wouldn't have been so stressed at the last minute.

\small{\textsf{\underline{Traducci\'{o}n}: Si hubieras sido m\'{a}s organizado, no habr\'{i}as estado tan estresado}}\\\small{\textsf{en el \'{u}ltimo minuto.}}

  • "If" Clause: If you'd been more organised
  • Result Clause: You wouldn't have been so stressed at the last minute

7 − f

If they’d taken my advice, they wouldn't have had so many problems.

\small{\textsf{\underline{Traducci\'{o}n}: Si ellos hubieran seguido mi consejo, no habr\'{i}an tenido tantos problemas.}}\\

  • "If" Clause: If you'd been more organised
  • Result Clause: You wouldn't have been so stressed at the last minute
