Los perezosos (Folivora) son unos mamíferos tropicales que habitan en América Central y del Sur. Estos animales usan sus largas garras para colgarse de las ramas mientras se alimentan de las hojas que otros mamíferos no pueden alcanzar. Además, como tienen unas garras tan largas (miden entre ocho y diez centímetros) les cuesta caminar por el suelo, motivo por el que pasan la mayor parte del tiempo en los árboles más altos de la selva.

Existen seis especies de perezosos y, además, se dividen en dos variedades diferentes: de dos dedos y de tres dedos. Los perezosos de tres dedos alcanzan aproximadamente el tamaño de un perro mediano, es decir, entre cincuenta y sesenta centímetros. Además, pesan alrededor de 8 kilogramos. En cambio, los perezosos de dos dedos son un poco más grandes, si bien comparten las mismas características.
