The flu  is caused by an influenza virus. Most people get the flu when they breathe in droplets from the cough or sneeze of someone who has the flu. You can also get it if you touch something that contains the virus and then touch your mouth, nose, or eyes.

Symptoms of the flu appear suddenly and may include fever, headache, chills, dry cough, sore throat, muscle or body aches, tiredness.
